Flight services to Bulgaria are growing. The “Open Skies” requirement for EU entry has already opened the doors to the cheap carriersn. EasyJet have already started return flights between London Gatwick and Sofia, from November 2007!

British Airways to Sofia, Bulgaria

BA Service to Varna

BA is operating a direct flight service to Varna (since March 26th 2006), from Gatwick, running all year round.
Flights are Wednesday and Saturday. You can expect to typically pay around the £175 mark for a return flight in 2008, including taxes/fees.

Hungarian national carriers do good value flights out of London Heathrow and out of Stanstead to Varna. They fly this service in winter too. For online booking click here. Wizzair fly from Sofia to Luton airport in London. Prices vary according to flight dates - but you can get one-way fares for as little as €31 including taxes. A typical summer 2008 flight might cost you about €125 (about £95 at current exchange rates), but you need to check your dates on the website for accurate prices according to your planned date of departure.
